The ManKind Project International (MKPI) New Warrior Community is a worldwide 501(c)(3) non-profit, non-political, nonsectarian, tax-exempt men's organization. It was formed in 1986 to offer educational and experiential men's personal growth trainings, including the New Warrior Training Adventure (NWTA). Over 26,000 men have been initiated into the New Warrior Training Adventure throughout the world. The initiated men of MKPI share a common experience, which serves as a remarkable bond between men throughout the United States and other Countries in the world. Our intention as a community of men is two-fold. First, to enable men to live lives of integrity, accountability, and connection to their feelings. And second, to be of service, both as individual men, and as men working together. To this end, our focus is on personal growth and self-awareness, thereby strengthening men lives. The ManKind Project Los Angeles Community, Inc. (MKPLA) is a California non-profit benefit corporation. Our local community has initiated over 1,200 men in Los Angeles, Ventura, Orange, Riverside, Santa Barbara, San Bernardino, and Kern Counties since 1997. The Community is committed to nurturing, growing, and maintaining itself as an active Center of The ManKind Project International. The MKPLA Community has adopted a Mission that is the foundation of our work: Our Mission is to create a community that empowers men to manifest their dreams by discovering and teaching the sacred knowledge of being a man. The Community adopted this mission statement in July 1997, when The Mankind Project/Los Angles Center began as a certified training center within The ManKind Project. Prior to 1997, men in our area were initiated at other MKPI Community centers, mostly in San Diego. On February 13, 2003, The ManKind Project Los Angeles Community, Inc. (MKPLA, Inc.) was recorded with the State of California. MKPLA, Inc. is governed by the Bylaws of the non-profit corporation that includes a Community Governance Plan adopted on July 7, 1997. The Board of Directors of MKPLA, Inc. consist of a 13-member Council of initiated men who volunteer their services and perform the business of the MKPLA Community as prescribed in the Bylaws and the Governance Plan, and include the Council Chair/Center Director, the Center Administrator, the Communications Coordinator, the Elder Council Leader, the Enrollment & Promotion Coordinator, the I-Group Council Leader, the Membership Tracking Coordinator, the Metaphysicians Council Leader, the Leader Body Coordinator, the Financial Aid Coordinator, the Secretary, the Training Coordinator, and the Treasurer. The ManKind Project Los Angeles Community fulfills its mission by conducting the New Warrior Training Adventure, a program that initiates men into mature masculinity, so that they may lead lives of integrity, connection to feeling, and a renewed responsibility for their personal mission in the world. Through weekend "training adventures" and continuing on into post-training "integration groups", and other advanced trainings and support programs, men are challenged in deeply personal ways to look at who they are and how they make choices and take actions that work and don't work for them in their lives. Men who have completed the New Warrior Training Adventure may choose to continue their personal growth by attending an 8-week extension of the NWTA weekend. During the 8-weeks, initiated new men join with senior men who facilitate an educational and experiential process that is conducted one night a week for each week. This is a time when men gain greater knowledge that enables them to expand their personal and emotional growth. Thereafter, men have several options to continue their work in what we call "Integration Groups" (I-Groups). I-Groups serve as on-going support groups, not therapy groups. They are individual and self-guided, varying from group to group in their policies and intentions. Generally, all initiated men or "New Warriors" may attend to give and receive support. I-Groups generally meet once a week or once every other week, three hours in the evening to continue the process of personal transformation begun during the weekend and during the 8-week process. The men of the Los Angeles Community invite you to come and experience the feeling of being accepted in a community of men. We invite you to join our Community and the many men who have experienced the growth and successes that come from personal awareness and enlightenment. We invite you to visit an "Open House" activity to obtain more information about The ManKind Project Los Angeles Community and the New Warrior Training Adventure. We also invite you to visit specifically designated I-Groups in the Community for a limited time, so that you can experience what it is like to be a New Warrior. Only you can make the choice to take the path… Only you know if this work is something that you are looking for… Only you can do the work to transform your life… The men of The ManKind Project Los Angeles Community are here to support and assist you on your journey. And, the journey has begun. Welcome to our Community! Welcome to the Journey! |
